The faithful page of Sir Joans Mendy, Joan de Huet, accompanied Mendy on his errantry quest through the Empire. He was later tasked with escorting Ravendil, Martin, and Thuramir and serving as they guide and interpreter as they made their way across Bretonia to Bordeleaux. Along the trip Joan served as Martin's language coach, allowing him to develop a firm grasp on the basics of the Bretonian language.
