Isodard Gumy

Isodard Gumy was a monk of Manann living on with brothers in Manann on the Silent Isle.

Isodard was a restless, yet devout, monk. While, like his brother-in-kind, Isodard took a vow of silence, a vow aided, if not out-right enforced, by the island. Isodard began to resent the vow. He felt that worship of Manann deserved not silent prayer, but loud praise.

Isodard left the monastery on the island for the eastern lighthouse. He made the journey on the ridge trail slowly, taking three steps then, falling to his knees, shouting praises to Manann, though never heard. The personal pilgrimage ended three days later at the lighthouse. Isodard's knees were bruised and bleeding through his blue robes.

His final praise was heard and Manann's power coursed though his body, mind, and spirit. It radiated from his whole body. The monks manning the lighthouse were terrified, not of Isodard, the eccentric monk, but that they could suddenly hear each other and the environment around them. The monks ran from the lighthouse, leaving it to Isodard. They would not return for several months, if out of desperation, seeking safety from the new, more dangerous visitors to the island.

Isodard set to devout prayers in the lighthouse. The silence lifted here, he set about seeking Manann's blessing to lift the "Curse of the Silent Isle" completely.

When the star fell, his prayers were heard more loudly. A whirlwind of magical energies surrounded him in the lighthouse. So powerful was the energy it literally burned his clothing and hair from his body. The blessing of Manann echoed across the island, following the crash of the star into the surf.

The island rocked, but the lighthouse stood. Manann blessed Isodard. Isodard vowed anew: he would make this spot a holy site dedicated to Manann.
